Additionally, students will be introduced to paid apprenticeship and advanced training programs. Students will focus on problem solving and communication skills needed on the work-site by utilizing project-based learning. Introduction to Construction Trades – This 8-week Introduction to Construction Trades class will provide students with an in-depth exploration of building trades, occupational skills, and workplace standards and conduct. Prerequisite: Fundamental English language and basic computer skills Autodesk Suite programs are used as the learning system. This 8-week course provides an introduction to such computer-aided design and drafting. Systems build three-dimensional models of everything from medical equipment to office build design and landscape that increase efficiency and quality before actual construction. Introduction to CADD – Computer systems are now the driving force for product development. Introduction to Technical Career Training and Certification Students experience off-site job shadow opportunities, work with a transition specialist and an employment specialist one-on-one, and can start employment or extended college programs in less than a year. Class modules in the programs focus on separate (or student-selected) industry concepts, so that learners can build their knowledge toward specific jobs. Job skills and employment development are taught within these short-term programs. Technical Career Training classes are offered with the goal of allowing students to learn, develop and demonstrate skills in industry modules, such as manufacturing, hospitality and office management, transportation, health care, and more.
